Enthusiasm for Clean Energy Translates to Votes
The final tally is in, and the youth voter turnout was even higher than we originally posted in our blog: It increased by 3.3 million over 2004, making it the largest turnout among the Millennial generation since 1972, when the voting age was changed to 18 from 21. But will this excitement translate to a receptive administration that is able to revitalize our economy and transition to clean energy at the same time?

Open-Window Policy at Colorado College is a Breath of Fresh Air
While occupants of some modern buildings can only wish for fresh air due to efficiency and energy concerns, students in the Tutt building can crank the casement-style windows wide open, thanks to a decidedly low-tech means of sensing open windows and conserving energy.

Emissions-Free or Bust! (Or So Says UNH's Bumper Sticker)
Sustainable transportation is a hot growth area, and can include anything from rail and bus service to community bikes. University of New Hampshire has chosen to create a portfolio of alternative energy options, and are so successful that demand is straining the system.

Closer Look:
The Heat Movers

Ground-source heat pumps warm and cool buildings by tapping low-grade energy stored close to the earth’s Surface. Al Gore and George W. Bush have these super-efficient systems. Thanks to fluctuating energy costs and federal tax credits, your school may use the same technology in the not-so-distant future.
