Riding the Rails to Carbon Neutrality


Arizona State University Public TransportationLight rail on campus promises many advantages: quicker and cheaper transportation for students and staff; enhanced opportunities for evening and weekend classes; and increased access to employment and community social events for students. It also plays a role in reducing a school’s overall greenhouse gas emissions.

Campuses Try Not to Waste the Waste

Anaerobic digestion, an oxygen-free method of composting organic matter, captures the methane created during its decay and could provide students with a new kind of “eco-dining."

The Carbon-Paper Link: How Simple Choices Reduce Emissions 

The carbon-to-paper connection may seem obvious, given paper’s origin in carbon-capturing forests. But paper’s climate influence goes well beyond forestry management due energy intensive manufacturing, bleaching techniques and anaerobic decomposition.
