South Central Regional Center

South Central_logo_south centralOur region is home to countless species of fish and wildlife that depend on healthy water and habitats for survival.

At the South Central Regional Center, our focus is on protecting and restoring healthy rivers and estuaries, conserving wetlands, springs and acquifers, safeguarding wildlife and habitats from the effects of global warming, promoting sustainable land and water use, and connecting both children and adults with the natural world.

Is the Summer Over Yet?

For those in the northern portion of our region, you may be experiencing a cooler than normal summer this year. But all of us are familiar with those summers that are so sweltering that you long for the cool, crisp air of autumn. For us folks in the south, it is hard to imagine what could be worse than this summer.

Unfortunately, the latest report by NWF, shows that future heat waves will be worse. In fact, many of the cities in our region are listed in the top 30 cities at risk. Are you living in one of them?
