NWF's Tree Seedling Application

Each year the National Wildlife Federation makes free native tree seedlings available for community tree planting or tree giveaway events through this application process. Eligible applicants include NWF affiliates, NWF Eco-Schools, Schoolyard Habitats, Community Wildlife Habitats, Habitat volunteers and partners of NWF programs, regional offices and affiliates. Please DO NOT APPLY if you are not an existing partner with NWF through these programs.

Important Notes:

  • Review tree seedlings guidelines prior to applying.
  • Applications must be submitted at least 60 days before the event date and will be considered on a rolling basis.
  • Applicants will be notified (of approval or otherwise) within about one month from the time their application was submitted.

Note: When identifying what type of native trees are best for you, please consult NWF’s Tree Guide. We also recommend consulting with the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center where you can look up native trees by zip code. All requested trees will be verified by NWF as being native to your region. You may specify what species you prefer (up to four different kinds). If specific species are not available, NWF will let you know what is available for your area.
