The mule deer herds that roam the Piceance Basin region of western Colorado have declined sharply over the past few decades, as oil and gas development has transformed much of the landscape into a crisscross of roads and drilling rigs.

Amongst the widespread development in the Piceance Basin stands the wild and biologically rich Roan Plateau, towering thousands of feet above the valley floor and providing vital mule deer habitat for nearby herds.

But now, the Roan Plateau and surrounding area is being targeted for 3,000 new oil and gas wells, which could have devastating impacts on the mule deer in the region.

Take Action! Tell the Bureau of Land Management to protect the Roan Plateau's crucial mule deer habitat from drilling.
