Over half of the prairie pothole wetlands in the Great Plains have been drained for agricultural development—destroying the habitat where Northern Pintail ducks raise their young.

Up until now, the federal Farm Bill has included conservation provisions that help farmers protect the remaining wetlands surrounding agricultural lands.

However, the new Farm Bill currently being finalized could include damaging loopholes that would pay farmers for destroying wetland habitats—at the expense of ducklings and other wildlife.

Right now, members of the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives are working to finalize the new five-year Farm Bill.

Help protect Northern Pintails by editing and sending a message to your members of Congress, urging them to include protections to wetlands in the final Farm Bill.
