Wildlife like the Carolina northern flying squirrel needs your help and the help of Virginia’s leaders. This endangered species is now living on “sky-islands” on nine isolated mountain peaks in the southern Appalachians. The impacts of a changing climate threaten this special species’ last remaining strongholds in the Commonwealth.

The Commonwealth of Virginia has the opportunity to become a U.S. climate leader by creating its own carbon market and boosting measures like energy efficiency and renewable energy in order to further cut carbon pollution from the energy sector. Please call on the Department of Environmental Quality to create a carbon market, link to the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, and cut harmful carbon pollution from the power sector.
