Swift fox live in our remaining native grasslands of the gently rolling Great Plains. Conservation provisions in the Farm Bill typically protect some of their habitat. But unless we act now, swift fox habitat could be plowed under to grow crops.
Senators are gearing up to vote on the 2018 Farm Bill. The House of Representatives just approved a version of the Farm Bill that has steep cuts to conservation that will harm wildlife. Fortunately, the Senate version helps to conserve our nation’s valuable soil, water, and wildlife by providing robust funding for Farm Bill conservation programs, does not include provisions that would weaken bedrock environmental laws such as the Clean Water Act and Endangered Species Act, and supports grassland and wetland conservation provisions.
Please urge your Senators to stand up for conservation of our nation’s soil, water, and wildlife by supporting strong Farm Bill conservation programs.
