The Trump Administration’s Department of the Interior wants to open the Superior National Forest to sulfide-ore mineral leasing, ensuring toxic drainage would imperil the watershed for the pristine 1.1 million acre Boundary Water Canoe Area and the wildlife and communities that depend on the clean water it provides. Even worse, the pollution’s impact would persist for several hundred years.

Defend this vulnerable wilderness. Urge the Department of the Interior to reject these lease renewals and new mining leases in the Boundary Waters watershed and institute a 20-year mineral ban to protect this irreplaceable wildlife habitat.
