A future for endangered jaguars in our Southwest would most certainly be lost with the construction of a continuous wall along the border. The wall would cut off the ability for wild animals like these rarely seen jaguar to roam their essential habitat range for mating, food, shelter and places to raise young.
But we do not have to jeopardize the jaguar—and more than one hundred other threatened and endangered wildlife species across this biologically rich region—to achieve border security.
Border security decisions are being negotiated right now in Washington, D.C. Send a message to President Trump and Congress urging a virtual wall combining high-tech equipment such as underground pressure sensors, radar and detectors that can be far more proficient than any physical barrier while having little wildlife impact.
I oppose a continuous wall along the border for its significant impacts on wildlife.
